Online store and Shopify
Sell a model on Shopify
Put a published model on your Shopify store with the configurator on its product page: riders size it, add it to the cart and pay at Shopify's checkout.
On this page 5 sections
Before you start
Connect your Shopify store (see Connect your Shopify store) and publish the model on your Surfbase store first (see Publish a model). Your Surfbase store must stay switched on: the configurator on the Shopify product page runs from it. Each model you list counts toward your plan's Shopify listings.
Steps
-
List the model
Open the design, choose Publish as a model from the ⋯ menu, and select List on Shopify beside the published model. Surfbase creates one product with an option for each fin setup, fin system and finish you offer, priced from your base price and surcharges, and publishes it to your Online Store.
-
Add the configurator to the product page
In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Customize, switch to the model's product page, and add the Board configurator block from Apps. Under After adding to cart, choose whether the rider goes to the cart or stays on the page. The block only shows on products Surfbase listed from a model.
Hide the theme's own buy buttons and option pickers on that page. They add the board without a size, so the configurator should be the only way to the cart. If your other products share the template, give the model its own product template first.
-
Check the prices
Surfbase sets each option's price once, when it creates it. After that the prices are yours to change in Shopify, and the configurator shows Shopify's price.
What a rider sees
The product page shows the same configurator as your Surfbase store: the board standing up in 3D, the size controls inside your ranges, fins, finish, logos and the suggested volume. Add to cart puts the board in the Shopify cart with its length, width, thickness and volume on the line. The rider pays the full price at Shopify's checkout.
When an order arrives
The order comes into Surfbase like any Shopify order, with the same configuration card as an order from your Surfbase store. Select Accept to create the design at the rider's size with the finish applied. Select Decline to cancel the order and email the rider your message. Surfbase never moves Shopify's money: refund the rider in Shopify.
If a line arrives without a size from the configurator, for example because the block wasn't on the page, the order says so and the line is the model at its own size. Ask the rider what they want before you shape it.
Changing the model
Change sizes, fins, finishes and surcharges in Surfbase, not in Shopify. A new option adds its combinations to the product, a removed one deletes them, and unpublishing the model drafts the product. Select Unlist to take it off Shopify; the product is kept as a draft so listing it again updates the same product.
