Online store and Shopify
Publish a model
Offer a design on your store as a custom model: riders choose a size inside your ranges, fins and a finish, see it in 3D and order it with a deposit.
On this page 5 sections
Before you start
Your online store must be switched on (see Set up your online store). A model is a finished design: save it with the dimensions, fins and rocker you would actually build. If you want riders to pay a deposit, connect Stripe first. Without Stripe the model still publishes, and orders arrive as enquiries with no money taken.
Steps
-
Open the design
Open the design you want to sell and choose Publish as a model from the ⋯ menu. On a Factory workspace with more than one brand, pick which brand's store it goes on. The same design can be a model on two stores at two prices.
-
Set the sizes
The ranges start at 5 % either side of the design's length and 3 % either side of its width and thickness, in steps that suit your unit. Move them as far as you are willing to build. The range must include the design's own size, and the steps count up from the minimum, so the model's own size is always one a rider can land on.
-
Choose fins and finishes
Tick the fin systems and setups you offer. Finishes are your graphic templates; a plain board is always offered too. Add a surcharge to any option that costs more. Leave Riders can switch logos off ticked if they may hide a template's logos.
-
Price it
Enter the base price and the deposit, as a percentage or a fixed amount. The default is 30 %. Add a lead time if you like — it shows on the model page and the confirmation.
Under Views on the model page, tick what riders can look at: 3D, Outline, Rocker and Graphics. 3D, Outline and Rocker are ticked to start with.
-
Publish
Select Publish. The model appears in a Custom models section on your store, above the stock boards. Workshop plans can publish a limited number of models at once; Factory is unlimited. With a Shopify store connected, List on Shopify sells it there too (see Sell a model on Shopify).
What a rider sees
The model page shows your board standing up, in live 3D and on the outline and rocker you chose, at the size they choose — with the fins and finish they pick drawn on it — with the volume read off the resized shape, the price updating with their options, and — if they enter their weight and ability — a suggested volume bar. They cannot pick a size outside your ranges; a bigger or smaller request opens an enquiry pre-filled with what they entered. Checkout takes the deposit on your Stripe account and gives them an order number and, when you share status pages, a link to follow the build.
When an order arrives
The order appears in your orders with the source Custom model and a card showing the rider's size against the model's, the fins, the finish, the volume and their profile. Select Accept to create the design at that size with the finish applied — it appears in your designs under Custom orders, ready for a blank and a cut — and the order moves on. Designs made for an order don't count toward your plan's design limit. Select Decline to refund the deposit, cancel the order and email the rider your message.
When the design changes
A model stays pinned to the version you published. When you save the design again, the design page says the model is behind and offers Re-pin, which moves the model to the current version and widens the ranges if the new size fell outside them.
