What’s new in Surfbase

New features, improvements and fixes in the web app and the iPhone app beta.

New Web app

A new design page and editor

Outline, Rocker, Slices, Graphics and 3D now share one viewer and one toolbar. In the editor, a Live 3D preview sits under your drawing and updates as you edit: drag it, resize it from any edge, or float it over the canvas.

Fixes and improvements

  • Creating a design lands straight in the editor.
  • Picking a shape re-seeds the board from that shape’s template.
  • Version history is redrawn.
  • Measuring readouts no longer wrap or clip.

New Web app

Collections and a new share page

Group designs into collections and drag them into order. A shared design opens on a public page with the same viewer as the app, and on a desktop, View in your room shows a QR code that opens the board in AR on a phone.

Fixes and improvements

  • Collections sync to your Shopify store.
  • The designs list adds checkboxes and bulk actions.
  • Template cards draw the board’s rail.
  • No more dark flash between pages in dark mode.

Improved Web app

Every screen, redrawn

The dashboard, orders, production, customers, inventory, analytics, the online store and settings move to the new design, on desktop, tablet and phone.

Fixes and improvements

  • Customise the dashboard: hide tiles and move cards between columns.
  • Orders: a queue with saved views and a peek drawer.
  • Production: Board and List views, a workshop scan screen and a status page for the rider.
  • Reports for sales, margin, payments, orders, production, inventory, designs and customers.

New Web app and iPhone app

Shopify, and sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft

Connect a Shopify store to list designs and stock boards as products and bring its orders into Surfbase, on Pro and Business. You can also sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, on the web and in the iPhone app beta.

New Web app

Resize a design, or a whole size run

Make a design longer or shorter, or build a run of sizes from one board. Every size is overlaid to scale, and volumes are estimated before anything is created.

Fixes and improvements

  • The online store has its own page in the sidebar.
  • An order says why card payments aren’t on offer, when they aren’t.
  • The design page fits a phone held upright.
  • “Back to this board” no longer leads to a missing page.

Snapshot the 3D view

Save the 3D view as a transparent PNG at the angle you set, or copy it with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + C. Snapshots are on every plan, Free included.

Fixes and improvements

  • The 3D viewer’s five look controls fold into one Appearance menu.
  • Boards no longer stand on their nose in AR.
  • Arrow keys move the way they point, on every screen.

Improved iPhone app (beta)

The iPhone app beta, rebuilt

Every screen is rebuilt for iOS. Designs draw the web’s own geometry in outline, graphics and 3D views, with fin plug marks where the web places them.

The iPhone app is for viewing: designs in 3D and AR, orders, production and customers. Designing stays on the web.

Fixes and improvements

  • Graphics show on every face of the board again.

New Web app

3D and AR for every design

Every design you draw now has a 3D view, an AR file for iPhone and an image for sharing. Graphics come from a new skin asset library, and a skin can be saved as a team template and applied to another design, scaled to fit.
