Publish a design to the Library
Put a design in the public Library in a minute: a title, a description, a licence and a cover from the 3D view. Anyone can use a copy; your notes, costs and customers stay private.
On this page 4 sections
The Marketplace at surfbase.app/marketplace/designs is where shapers publish designs for anyone to browse in 3D and use as the start of their own board. Publishing is immediate, needs no review, and credits you with a link to your store on every card and page.
Steps
-
Open the design
Go to Designs and open the design you want to publish. It needs an outline or a 3D model: a design with neither cannot be listed.
-
Choose Publish to the Library
Open the ⋯ menu and select Publish to the Library.
-
Describe it
Type a Title (the design name is suggested) and a Description of up to 1,000 characters: who the board is for, the conditions it likes, how it was built.
-
Pick a licence
Open shape lets anyone use the design, change it, and build and sell boards from it. Shop licence limits that to the one team that uses it. Both forbid resharing or reselling the design itself. See Design licences.
-
Turn the board for the cover
The cover is taken from the 3D view as it is when you publish. Turn the board the way you want it seen first.
-
Confirm and publish
Tick "This is my own design, or I have the right to publish it", then select Publish. The listing is live at once at its own address, which the design page shows.
What a visitor sees
- The board in 3D, with the outline, rocker and graphics views, and its dimensions in the unit they choose.
- The volume, tail and fins, your description, the licence, the published and updated dates, views and uses.
- Your shaper card: your store's name and mark, linking to your store and its contact page while the store is live. Without a live store the card shows your brand name alone.
- Use this design, which copies the design into their own Surfbase. The copy is theirs; it never changes your listing, and your listing never changes their copy.
Never shown: your notes, costs, customers, orders, machines, or anyone's name or email.
Update, unpublish, republish
- When the design moves on to a new version, the design page says "Published on version 3, design is on version 5" with Update listing. Updating moves the listing to the current version; copies people already made are not changed.
- Unpublish removes the listing from the Library within a minute. Its address is kept for you, so publishing again restores the same link.
Reports
Anyone can report a listing as not the publisher's design, offensive, or broken. A reported listing is hidden from the public while Surfbase reviews it, and you are emailed. If the report is dismissed the listing comes back and you are told; if it is upheld the listing stays down. Three upheld reports close publishing for a team until Surfbase lifts it.
